Chiropractic Techniques - Whiplash Help! | Personal Injury Council

Types of Chiropractic Adjustments

  1. Diversified Technique (Diversified Chiropractic Technique)

The diversified technique is the most popular technique among chiropractors. If you need instant help with back or neck pain, your chiropractor is likely to use this technique.

It adjusts a lumbar disk herniation which is the most common cause of back and neck pain.

  1. The Thompson Technique

The Thompson Technique is appropriate for chronic back pain, pediatric wellness, and pregnancy care.

Chiropractors use a drop table to get low force adjustments, high velocity, and low amplitude.

The goal is for patients to have a minimally forceful adjustment as a dropping device assists the procedure.

  1. Flexion-Distraction

Flexion-distraction is a technique that chiropractors may use to treat various conditions of the lumbar spine.

They include low back pain, arthritis, scoliosis, and lumbar disc injuries. The purpose of the technique is to increase spinal motion and resolve disc herniations and bulges. It is safe, non-forceful, and gentle.

It takes the pressure off of dysfunctional or injured spinal nerves. Some of its benefits include:

  • Reducing the symptoms of sciatica
  • Minimizing pressure on your spinal nerves
  • Increasing spinal motion within spinal joints and in the disc
  • It may be a good alternative to surgery if you have herniated discs
  1. Activator Method

This technique uses the Activator Adjusting Instrument. It is a hand-held instrument that delivers gentle force to your spine.

The instrument is excellent for restoring motion to a specific joint or spinal vertebra. This method has two main benefits.

First, it depends on the speed of the instrument. The instrument is quick, so your muscles are unlikely to tense and resist treatment.

Since there is no muscle resistance, the treatment works fast.

Secondly, the applied force is localized. It does not add bending movement to other joints.
